GH has expanded their footprint this summer with 52 Union, a three-bedroom home with harbor views steps from Francis Street Beach and the updated Periwinkle Inn on North Water Street. We love their vibe and it doesn’t hurt that Via Mare is right there at GH, just go right out of the lobby for one of Nantucket’s best meals.
Sharing hospitality, education, and community engagement through authentic food and beverage experiences, locals Emily Dusseau, Zack Hotter and Gracie Schadt have created a new boutique wine bar highlighting wines from around the world, unique takes on classic cocktails, and a farm-to-table bistro menu. We so approve.
The shore breaks we surf out here can reposition themselves annually following winter storms and natural order of shorelines, so we always keep an eye out for new or improved spots each Summer. Summer ‘23 looks like it might offer a couple of breaks that haven’t worked in years, fingers crossed because one of them is a favorite. Where you ask? Exactly.
Yeah, not new, probably already your favorite, but we just wanted to say it again, who’s your farmer? An island institution for a reason.
The continued rise of KEI trucks - In an alternate universe, KEI trucks and vans could be the only cars allowed on island, they make so much sense on a small island with narrow streets, but in this one, their presence is being felt more and more each year which we wholeheartedly back. Practicalities aside, they’re just rad.
This “neighborhood joint” churns out delicious “neapolitan-ish” pizza pies as well as wines, beers and cocktails PLUS free Galaga and Ms. Pacman while you wait for your order. Check.
Most towns nowadays are lucky to have one bookstore, we’ve got two incredible ones. If Mitchell’s is Virgin Records then Bookworks is Sub-Pop, between the two they’ve got your literary needs covered.
We’ve partnered with longtime island favorite, Nantucket Bake Shop, to bring you an assortment of pastries in our coffee shop. You begged, we complied.
Rick Rubin : The Creative Act - We don’t have space to go into who Rick Rubin is, but he has absolute credibility to write a book on creativity. In small bursts and digestible prose perfect for the beach or hammock, he demystifies and celebrates the creative process and the artist that lives in all of us. Get inspired.
For Summer 2023, get onboard with our official STOKE ACK cocktail, it’s super highbrow and complicated. Take a glass, we recommend a 12 oz highball because, again, we’re fancy, but a pint glass will work too, fill it halfway with ice, then add a shot of your favorite vodka, next grab a High Noon, any flavor will do, and fill the glass up to the brim, garnish with fruit if you want (a lime seems to work with all versions) and enjoy. The High Noon Floater.
The Yin and Yang of Gerry Lopez - Gerry Lopez has accrued a lot of nicknames through the years (Mr. Pipeline, King of Casual, Soul Surfer, etc), all hitting on some aspects of him, none capable of summing up the whole. This doc fills in the gaps as well as anything ever could. Be like Gerry.
Rogue Wave goes digital on STOKE ACK RADIO - After a great year on 97.7 ACK FM, we’re taking the show global and online. Check out our station STOKE ACK RADIO on MIXLR, we’ll still have plenty of 80’s, but now will mix in lots more and even have some live events. Stay tuned!
One of our favorite causes on the island, MUSACK helps get instruments in the hands of kids who might not otherwise have the opportunity. Still plotting out some events, we’ll keep you posted, but in the meantime they always accept donations, check it all out here.
